When it comes time to drop in a line, our creeks and rivers throughout the area boast some of the best inland fishing in Australia.
Our waterways are a breeding ground for native fish species including one of the most prized trophies, Australia’s largest freshwater fish the Murray Cod, found right throughout this region.
Some of the other species found include the Redfin (English Perch), Silver Perch (Brim), Golden Perch (Yellowbelly), freshwater Murray Cray (season closed for 5 years) and the Yabby.
Great baits include yabbies, cheese, worms, grubs and your lures.
Licenses and Seasons
Remember, a NSW Fishing licence is required in local waters and bag and size limits apply.
Fishing licences are available at our Government Access Centres and other retailers throughout the Shire or via the NSW DPI here.
Open fishing season for the Murray Cod runs from December to August each year.
